A busy month never stops a sync
When your store passes the orders its plan includes, Cortex keeps syncing. Each order after that is billed at the plan’s rate, on the same Shopify invoice.
Moving up a plan costs less once those orders add up. Above 1,300 orders a month, Growth costs less than Starter. Above 5,900, Scale costs less than Growth.
For larger volumes, write to contact@huntthenight.com.au about a private plan.
$49 500 orders included
$30 300 more at $0.10
$79 for the month
$129 2,500 orders included
$75 1,500 more at $0.05
$204 for the month
What counts as a synced order
- A synced order is a Shopify order that Cortex creates in Retail Express.
- Each order is counted once, however many edits, refunds, returns or fulfilments Cortex later applies to it.
- Product, inventory and customer updates are never counted.
- Sync does not pause when a store passes its included orders. The orders beyond them are billed at the plan’s rate for each order.
Beside the connector Retail Express gives you
Retail Express includes its own Shopify connector in every plan. Here is what each does, in the vendor’s own words where we could find them.
| Retail Express’s own Shopify connector | Cortex | |
|---|---|---|
| Refunds, returns and cancellations | No | Yes Carried between the two systems, exchanges included. Some wait for your approval or decision first. |
| Where a product can start | Created in Retail Express first, then published to Shopify.1 | Create it in either system. Products new in Retail Express arrive in Shopify as drafts. |
| Which product data moves | A set list of fields. Long descriptions, custom fields, custom attributes and images are listed as not synchronised.13 | You draw the mapping: fields, options, attributes and metafields. Images are not synchronised. |
| An order changed in both systems | Retail Express is the source of truth.1 | Cortex stops and asks which version to keep. |
| Linking a catalogue you already have | Existing products are linked by matching SKU.1 | Products that exist on both sides wait for your review before they are linked. |
| Stock | Stock from the outlets you select is combined into one quantity for Shopify, with optional buffers.46 | Optional. Each mapped outlet’s stock is mirrored to its own Shopify location every minute. No buffers. |
| Catching what was missed | Changes are queued; Maropost says orders typically sync within a few minutes and that peak congestion typically clears within 30–60 minutes.5 | Besides live notifications from both systems, Cortex rechecks for missed orders every 5 minutes and missed products every 15. |
| Seeing and fixing a failed sync | Not described in the help-centre articles we reviewed. | Yes Every sync is listed with its outcome; retry one, or every failure since a date. Finished history is kept 90 days. |
| Access, audit and AI | Not published. | Yes Four kinds of access per person, a 400-day audit log of setup and access changes, and an MCP server with 33 tools your AI assistant can use. |
| Cost | Included in every Retail Express plan.7 | A separate subscription, from US$49 a month. |
It is one or the other
Cortex takes the place of Retail Express’s own Shopify connector: the two can’t run on the same store.

Before you choose
- How does the free trial work?
- Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial, and there is no setup fee. You choose the plan in your Shopify admin.
- How am I billed?
- Through Shopify, in US dollars. The plan and any extra orders appear on your Shopify invoice, and Cortex never sees your payment card.
- Do the plans differ in features?
- No. Every plan has every feature, with unlimited products, outlets, locations and team members. The plans differ only in the orders they include and the rate for each order after that.
- What happens when I pass my included orders?
- Nothing stops. Cortex keeps syncing, and each order beyond the included number is billed at your plan’s rate for an extra order.
- Can I change or cancel my plan?
- Yes, at any time, from your Shopify admin. Shopify prorates the change on your invoice.
- What happens without an active plan?
- Syncing stops and the app shows only the plan screen. Your settings, mappings and history are kept, so choosing a plan again picks up where you left off.
